Lemongrass and Ginger Tea
Lemongrass and ginger tea is one of my favorite tea but I never like those in the teabags - taste so different from those freshly brewed. The smells always reminds me of spa, Balinese massage and the relaxing warm foot soak ...LOL! This tea is famously served in spa before and after treatment - I bet there must be a huge lot of benefits in this tea.
So I did Google-ed and found a long list on the benefits of Lemongrass and Ginger team. Lemongrass and ginger are the best two-herbs to use in brewing tea. Lemongrass and ginger are anti-inflammatory herbs, rich in antioxidants and some believes that these pair can help to prevent cancer...and the list goes on!
This tea requires really less effort and the result is so much worth it. I used Philips Pressure Cooker to make this tea so it is even more plus point as I don't have to keep an eye on the fire/gas stove..LOL!
While I'm writing this blog, I'm actually enjoying the cuppa right now.....it is really refreshing, calming and soothing. Heavenly!
Lemongrass and Ginger Tea
10 Stalks Lemongrass (bruised it)
5 Slices Ginger
5 Large Red Dates
6 Pieces Pandan Leaves (tie in a knot)
Water (to the Max in the Philips Pressure Cooker - about 6 lit.)
2/3 cup Molasses (or to your taste bud - you may use raw sugar or honey)
Directions:
- Firstly, trim the lemongrass according to your preference (I only used the bottom part) and give the lemongrass a good smack to bruise it so the flavor can be released.
- Put all the ingredients except the molasses into the Philips Pressure Cooker (you can use normal pot to boil over a gas stove too - let it simmer for an hour will be perfect).
- Close the lid and turn the valve to Seal.
- Turn ON the power of the pressure cooker and select Soup mode by increasing the Keeping Pressure Time to 59 minutes.
- Once the cooking is done and when the pressure has been released automatically (be sure that the Floater is down) before opening the lid.
- Add the molasses and give it a good stir and serve it hot!
